Loughor born, Jonathan studied piano from an early age and at 11 joined the West Glamorgan Youth Choir. Singing became a principal study at Gorseinon College under the care of Penelope Ryan and he sang with the National Youth Choir for three years, whilst gaining the singing Diploma of the ABRSM.

In 2005 he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bristol University specializing in Performance. He subsequently completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from the same institution, studying music teaching in secondary schools. During his time at Bristol, Jonathan worked extensively as a soloist and studied with Janet Price and Jeremy Huw Williams. In his final year, he conducted the University Chamber Choir, touring Poland in the Easter of 2005. He also worked with the University Church Choir, University Singers and the University Chamber Orchestra where his conducting practice matured.

Jonathan is now teaching music at his old school, Penyrheol Comprehensive, in Gorseinon. In his spare time he enjoys following rugby, football and cricket.
